Build a life worth living

what is dbt?

Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) skills training aims to help individuals improve their ability to regulate emotions and behaviors. Emotional “dysregulation” is not exclusive to a particular diagnosis, and can be present in various areas of a person’s life. While DBT in whole consists of individual therapy, group therapy, telephone coaching and ongoing consultation, often in tandem with medication management, skills training alone proves beneficial for those who…

  • are looking to maintain work they’ve done in previous DBT treatment programs

  • have discovered a skills deficit in a particular area of life following specialized treatments

  • want to learn more about the connection between their thoughts, emotions and behaviors

DBT skills training provides lessons in as well as opportunities to practice skills and evaluate their effectiveness in four areas:

Mindfulness

Interpersonal Effectiveness

Emotion Regulation

Distress Tolerance
