Frequently Asked Questions

What are your qualifications?

I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in the state of Pennsylvania, where I reside, as well as Ohio. I hold a Bachelors degree in Social Work from Slippery Rock University (2015), and a Masters in Social Work from PennWest Edinboro (2016). I also minored in Philosophy.

I am trained in and have experience with Exposure and Response Prevention, Prolonged Exposure therapy and Dialectical Behavior therapy, as well as Trauma and Recovery and Empowerment. I am also trained in Eye Movement and Desensitization Reprocessing and will be completing additional education for such this summer.

I’ve worked with individual clients as well as groups, from support groups to intensive outpatient therapy groups.

Do you offer virtual and/or in person sessions?

I currently only offer virtual therapy sessions. Clients must be located in Pennsylvania or Ohio at the time of the session to remain compliant with licensing and state regulations. I am based in western Pennsylvania. I do plan to offer in-person sessions again in the future, however, there is no date currently set.

What is virtual therapy?

Just like other tele-health appointments, therapy sessions can be effectively done virtually. I utilize a secure portal called Simple Practice to schedule, communicate, process payments and meet. Simple Practice has a website and apps, should you want to utilize your phone to meet.

Do you accept insurance?

I am a primarily self-pay practice. I accept payment through Simple Practice via an on-file credit card which processed payments at the end of the day. Super bills are generated and emailed for those looking to utilize out of network benefits. I also accept Aetna through Headway. Please be sure to check with your insurance to verify coverage.

what are your rates?

A typical session with me is 55 minutes with a fee of $160. Intake assessments are $175.

When and how should I reach out?

If you’re here, you’ve likely already come a long way. Looking for a therapist is hard- the relationship is personal and you see them more than a doctor. Some providers have wait lists from time to time, especially psychiatrists. Because of this, it’s best to reach out sooner rather than later. It’s better to wait for treatment on a list and change your mind, than wait months to start, only to be told the person you really felt hopeful toward can’t see you for awhile. Lots of therapists, including me, offer free 15-30 minute consultation calls / video meetings. This time allows us to see if we’re a good fit. You can submit a new client inquiry form by clicking here, or self-schedule a consultation here.

What if we’re not a good fit?

Don’t worry. It happens. Here’s the thing- you want to see a therapist who has the right training (and maybe even passion) for your needs. It’s ethically responsible for a therapist to say they’re not the best fit. That doesn’t mean you’re “too much”. It’s also possible that they do have the right specialty, but you just don’t vibe well. That’s okay too.

If we aren’t a good fit, I will ask you what you’re looking for and/or suggest the type of provider who could better meet your needs. If you’re open to it, I will utilize my networks and send you possible matches. I am passionate about helping people find the right therapist. I don’t care if it isn’t me.

I’m looking for a therapist for my kid, what’s that look like?

There are some special considerations here. I don’t work with children (but know some great providers who do). I do work with adolescents ages 14 and up, however do have very limited availability, as they typically need after school sessions. In Pennsylvania, a 14 year old can consent to their own mental health treatment. Releases of information must be signed by the minor (client) in order for me to share information about the sessions with anyone, including parents. This does not include, however, instances in which I feel that the client is in danger of harming themselves or others.

Who do you work with anyway?

Anyone! Okay, but seriously. My typical clients are anywhere from 16 to 60. They’re high school and college students, parents, professionals, entrepreneurs, and blue collar workers. They’re LGBTQ+, monogamous, non-monogamous. They’re comfortable with a little push and open to some laughs. They come in ready to work, kick ass and tolerate me celebrating them. They’re hard-working, down to earth, good-hearted people who want to live in line with their values.

They’re you.

Do you have evening or weekend hours?

Short answer- not often. I have limited evening hours (3pm-6pm), which fill up quickly. No weekend hours.

Where else can I find you?

As much as I’d love to be more active on socials, it’s something that just doesn’t fit into my life right now. You’ll find me on IG, Facebook and LinkedIn, but I’ll warn you, it’ll be boring.
